About Cornerstone Coatings

Cornerstone Coatings is a second-generation, Christian family-owned Canadian concrete coating manufacturer. We make a single product that does it all: Protec III: Original — a spray-on concrete finishing aid, cure, densifier, and hardener.

Our History

Cornerstone Coatings was started in 1999 with Protec III by Murray LeComte, a chemist by practice, an avid self-made inventor, businessman, and father.

Starting from humble beginnings in Bruno, Saskatchewan, Cornerstone Coatings has grown into a manufacturer reaching across Canada and the United States, with distribution in Australia.

After creating over 45 unique products, the business consolidated its focus to Protec III: Original in 2019. The product was originally named Protec III LSF Chem RX — it remains exactly the same formulation since 1999.

What Protec III: Original Does

Protec III: Original works through a chemical reaction between cement and liquid silica fume. One spray-on application gives you:

  • Concrete Cure — Chemical curing equivalent or better than water curing, preventing plastic shrinkage cracks without the costly process of water curing.
  • Finishing Aid — Works as a trowel aid, giving you a natural surface to work with. Close up dry concrete mixes easily, and finish in difficult conditions including temperatures above 38°C / 100°F.
  • Densifier and Hardener — Increases surface density, producing a harder surface that permanently dust-proofs with vehicle and foot traffic.
  • Efflorescence Blocker — Chemically neutralizes extra calcium hydroxide in the surface of new concrete before it can become white staining.
  • Polishing Aid — Use as your densifier, hardener, and polishing aid when polishing concrete, giving you everything you need in one package.

Who Uses It

  • Precast Manufacturers — Wetcast, drycast, and architectural. Improve finished surfaces, prevent bleed water, plastic shrinkage cracks, and efflorescence. Apply during finishing, after removing from your mould, or both.
  • Commercial Finishers — Cure and harden your floors with a same-day application requiring no scrubbing or cleaning. Use the same product for dust-proofing and densifying.
  • Residential Finishers — Driveways and garage pads. Cure, dust-proof, polish, block efflorescence, and help ensure your project is finished without issues.
  • Slipform, Shotcrete, and Gunite — Spray-on after shaping to prevent shrinkage cracks and cure in one application.

Shipping and Ordering

We ship from Edmonton, Alberta. Shipping is free on full pallet orders and IBC totes (36 pails minimum). Orders placed before 12:00 PM local time usually ship the same day.
